Jacob Kroll and Mary Waltman Kroll

Jacob Kroll & Mary Waltman Kroll
1773-1853

Michael Kroll and his wife who were born about 1745 in or near Wurttemburg, a state of province of Southern Germany near the Swiss border.  They emigrated to America and were the parents of Jacob, George and Solomon.  Jacob was born in 1773 in Wurttemburg, Germany.

Mary Waltman was born in 1773 in Pennsylvania.  We believe her parents, Louis and Kate Waltman, also came from Germany.

Jacob & Mary were married in 1809 in Clarence, Erie County, New York, and after their marriage they made a home in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  Eight of their oldest children were born here, namely: Catherine, John, Jacob, George, Samuel, Daniel, Solomon and Polly.  Then they moved to Clarence Hollow, Erie County, New York where Betsy Elizabeth and William were born. It was the only settlement in the western part of Erie County, New York at this time.

Jacob lived here until his 80th year.  He died 31 March 1853.  We are not sure when Mary died.  Both he and his wife were buried in an old family plot on the Abe Reigle (and later Abe Berry) Farm on the Martin Road in the town of Clarence, New York.  Inscriptions are still readable on his head stone marker, but those on Mary’s marker have been worn away by the elements.
